Rhodia originated as part of the Verilhac Brothers, Paper-Maker, founded in 1932 in Lyon, France. Created by Jean-Abel Verilhac's sons, the company began with 50 workers producing various paper products. In 1934, they launched the first Rhodia pad, named after the Rhône river, with its iconic logo of two spruce trees symbolizing the brothers' partnership, designed by Marie-Antonia, the wife of one founder. The orange cover, introduced that year, remains unchanged. After relocating to Grenoble in 1934, Rhodia was acquired by Clairefontaine in 1997, with production moving to Mulhouse. Known for its quality and innovative design, the Rhodia notebook became its most iconic product.
